Project Description: Demographers have long been  interested in the role of social and economic crises in the demographic behaviors. The recent Great Recession started in 2007 as the featuring downturns in both the financial and labor market fortunes provides a unique opportunity for a new study. Despite its policy and scientific relevance systematic analysis of the impacts of this recession is comparative analysis that allows for reference points for the italian situation and captures the reality of variation in the scope and strength of the Great Recession across countries. This Project aims at bring about new knowledge on how and under what circumstances the economic recession affects demographic events in italy adopting a life course perspective. Demographic processes - union formation fertility union dissolution as well ad health and migration . are by their very nature intertwined phenomena in individuals life course. DEMORE acknowledge the importance of a gender perspective in population studies while simultaneously recognizing that class differences further shape the link between economic shocks and demographic outcomes.
