Alessandro's research interests span a number of substantive areas in demography and sociology. His research has examined the link between individuals’ parental status and repartnering within or out of stepfamilies. He is also interested in understanding the consequences of unemployment on demographic outcomes such as fertility, partnership stability, wellbeing and income. He is also conducting research on divorce from a variety of dimension including social stratification, political affiliation and intergenerational transmission of union dissolution. After graduating at Università Bocconi in 2011, he obtained a PhD in Socio-Demography at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona in 2019 and was a research fellow in the Institute of Social Science at Université de Lausanne. He joined Dondena Center in 2021 to collaborate on the ERC-funded project DisCont.
